Our Everest - AUK

My Activity Tracking

687
kms

My target 130 kms

Every 10 seconds someone in the UK has a potentially fatal asthma attack. I want to make a difference this New Year

I’m taking on Our Everest for AUK this January. I’m walking 130km, the same as the Everest Base Camp trek (which I will actually be doing in November), because 2021 will be a mountain to overcome for people with lung disease.

The actual trek will last 11 days, so I will endeavour to do this challenge in the same amount of time!

I will be raising money in memory of a friend who died of an asthma attack in his early thirties, and also in support of premature babies such as my grandson Rocco, born at 28 weeks and needing supplemental oxygen for almost the first 3 years of his life.

Just £14 could fund an hour of life saving research. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

The more people that know about Asthma UK, the greater their impact, so please help get the word out by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you!

Completing the challenge

Thursday 7th Jan
I can't believe that I'm only 12k away from.completing my challenge and so will complete within a week (even quicker than the 11 days I'd planned on!). Right now, in a national lock down, walking locally is thankfully an allowed and encouraged activity.
Walking locally has been amazing and I have been reminded how blessed I am to live right in the edge of Cannock Chase. I haven't needed to get in a car once! The snow and ice has also helped make this a more authentic Virtual Everest Base Camp experience and I've also made sure to include as many hills as I could find in these walks. I've been reminded what a blessing good health is, and, in particular, healthy lungs - something I will hopefully never take for granted.
I'm just £5 off the upper target of £200 now and hope.someone will help me reach that milestone.
Thank you again to all of my sponsors and I look forward to the last leg of my challenge, which I think will include the trig (on Stile Cop) and Etching Hill, 2 places that mean a lot to me❤️❤️❤️

New Year's Day Hike!

Friday 1st Jan
27.5k all local walk as a great start to this challenge! I met my sister with her dog for the first part then my son Mark and his dog joined me for another section. Now all I need is for a few donations to come in (pretty please 😊)

Thank you to my Sponsors
