Our Everest - BLF

My Activity Tracking

My target 130 kms

1 in 5 people in the UK have a lung condition. I want to make a difference this New Year

I’m taking on Our Everest for the BLF this January. I’m walking 130km, the same as the Everest Base Camp trek, because 2021 will be a mountain to overcome for people with lung disease.

Just £14 could fund an hour of life saving research. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

The more people that know about British Lung Foundation, the greater their impact, so please help get the word out by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Sunday 31st Jan
I just want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who sponsored me. I also want to thank all of my wonderful walking buddies who spurred me on to complete this challenge. I couldn’t have done it without you.

21st January - day 17

Friday 22nd Jan
This morning I walked with Steve and I can honestly say that it was the muddiest most slippery walk I have ever done! We walked just under 10k which means I’ve reached Everest Base Camp!

19th January - day 16

Tuesday 19th Jan
I walked 6k today with Sue.  It was very warm for the time of year and it was good to walk without hats and gloves for once!!

18th January - day 15

Monday 18th Jan
Diana and I tried  a new walk today, which was lovely. Wonderful open countryside and views made up for the flooding and thick mud!!!!  We managed to clock up 8.7 k

17th January - day 14

Sunday 17th Jan
It was a beautiful day today & I had a lovely walk with my friend Kerry.  Despite the flooding and mud, we clocked up 6.5 k!

16th January - Day 13

Saturday 16th Jan
Sharon & I walked together today.  It was flooded in parts or there was snow & ice!!  We enjoyed it though and clocked up another 6k!

15th January - day 12

Friday 15th Jan
Having not been able to walk for 2 days, it was great to get back out there again!  Olwyn and I walked 8.8 k in the muddiest conditions I've ever walked in!!!!  We still enjoyed it and thankfully it hasn't put Olwyn off being my Friday walking buddy!

12th January - day 11

Tuesday 12th Jan
Today I walked again with Sue, my Tuesday walking buddy! It was much warmer but drizzly and very muddy.  Despite the conditions we managed to clock up 7k!

11th January - day 10

Monday 11th Jan
Today I walked again with my Monday walking buddy, Diana.  We did the same walk as last week, which was lovely and we managed not to get lost!!  We clocked up 9.7k.

9th January - day 9

Saturday 9th Jan
On my own today so just a short pavement walk in the beautiful sunshine!!  Clocked up 5.5 k!

8th January - day 8

Friday 8th Jan
Today I walked again with my Friday walking buddy, Olwyn.  It was cold, misty & muddy but as always we chatted and enjoyed the exercise and clocked up 8k!

7th January - Day 7

Thursday 7th Jan
Today, I really enjoyed a walk I've not done before, with my friend Steve. It was a beautiful sunny but cold day and I clocked up a very respectable 9.7 k!

6th January - day 6

Wednesday 6th Jan
Today I walked with my lovely friend Sharon.  It was very muddy so we stuck to the roads, chatted non-stop and managed to clock up 6k!

5th January - day 5

Tuesday 5th Jan
I usually walk every Tuesday with my lovely friend Sue, so we met as normal & walked 10k without even thinking about it as we were so busy chatting!!!

4th January - day 4

Monday 4th Jan
Today I did my longest walk so far with my good friend, Diana.  It was hilly, very muddy and cold but we both enjoyed it and managed to clock up 12k!  We hadn't meant the walk to be quite so long but we missed a turn & ended up doing a bigger loop!!

3rd January - day 3

Sunday 3rd Jan
I walked alone again today.  It was a beautiful sunny day!  I clocked up just under 6k.

2nd January - day 2

Saturday 2nd Jan
I walked on my own today but managed to chat on the phone whilst walking to my dear friend Mandy!  I clocked up a modest 5k.

1st January 2021 - day 1

Friday 1st Jan
I've started my Everest trek with my good friend Olwyn, who has offered to be my Friday walking buddy.
It was cold and drizzly but we still enjoyed our walk together and clocked up 8 km, so a great start!
